This past week, the MinneTESOL Journal released Vol. 39, issue 2, which included a manuscript I had submitted over the summer as an extension of coursework I completed for Hamline University’s English Learners in the Mainstream Graduate Certificate Program. Check it out here.
We have had a wonderful first few weeks of Kindergarten! Students have been working hard to learn school routines, practice our Pike Lake Promise, and get to know one another through name studies and cooperative play. We created Hopes & Dreams, or goals, for the school year, and then decided on a Class Promise that would help us support each other in reaching those goals. Our class has been working hard to use comprehension reading strategies and newly-developed phonemic awareness skills to begin reading books independently and with partners! We talked about Super Powers that make us special and practiced telling, drawing, and writing about Show-and-Tell items from home! Keep up the terrific work, Super Scholars!
We have been busy these first few weeks of Kindergarten!
